Classic/Antique Car Repair: 65 Mustang, emergency brakes, wd 40

Question
QUESTION: I have a 65 mustang and the right front wheel is frozen.  Tried breaking it free by driving kinda work...if you turn the steering wheel to the right the wheel doesn't go around nor will when you put the car in reverse, Any suggestions?
tks Dawn

ANSWER: Hi Dawn:
Interesting problem. You definitely have something bent or stuck. The question is what? You certainly need to remove the wheel and give it a good inspection. Could be as simple as a locked brake pad on that wheel, but it should turn somewhat under driving force. Assuming you haven't had the wheel work on lately or hit anything, this would be my first analysis. I've seem this happen with the emergency brakes as well. Make sure it is not stuck. Give the brakes linkage a good oiling with WD-40 and see if that doesn't take care of the problem. Let me know hope that turns out.

QUESTION: It hasn't been driven for awhile...so I don't think that something bent or stuck.  I will remove the wheel and see whats going on..thanks dawn

Answer
Hi Dawn:
If it hasn't been driven in awhile, I definitely think that the emergency brake may be locked on that wheel. This will happen when the emegency brake is set in the on position for a long time. Try oiling the linkage and set and release the emergency brakes a few time first. That just may be all that is needed.
