Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1964 Impala convertible, power brakes, power seat

Question
QUESTION: How rare is one that has pw, ps, and ac?
Thanks
Mark

ANSWER: Not rare at all, in fact all but AC were just about standard on that car, and in this part of the country (California), about 95% had AC too.  In the northern states, AC was probably in around 50% of the cars (a guess also).  For the total production, there were about 890,000 1964 Impalas made - and as a guess, I'd say about 6% of those were convertibles.  I don't believe there are any exact production records of how many had each accessory.  I never saw one without all 3 of those items, even in the sedans.

QUESTION: On the ps I meant power seat and I think it has power steering too hadn't look at in while.
Thanks for the help.

Answer
I didn't read your first question carefully enough - sorry.  Power seat and Power windows were certainly not on 50% of them - I was thinking power steering and power brakes, which they almost all had.  That is my error and I apologize.

A convertible with all those items isn't really super rare, but I'll change my answer to say that maybe 40-50% of them were so equipped - the AC is probably more common than the ps and pw, but again, I can only guess, and rely on the ones I've seen, which are probably skewed by the fact that I live in California.

The Impala was the top of the line for Chevrolet, and the dealers tended to order them loaded with accessories, because the profit margin on accessories is MUCH higher than on the basic car itself.  With convertibles, they know the buyer isn't that price sensitive, so they get as much as they can out of the sale.  That's just good business!
