Classic/Antique Car Repair: MotorCraft Distributor?, possibilty, manual transmission

Question
Trying to identify distributor in my 1966 Mustang. Whether it is a MotorCraft or other. I see no identifiers of any kind on outside or under the cap. Will I have to pull it, to id it? 200ci six.thanks, GREAT site

Answer
The distributor in your car is part number C5DZ-12127E if you have the manual transmission, or C4OZ-12127F if you have automatic transmission.  I don't know for sure who makes it, but that is a FORD part number; my guess would be that it is made by MotorCraft.

There should be an ID plate or a stamped ID on the side of the distributor, which you might be able to see with a good light if you clean it off and perhaps use a mirror.  If you have to pull it, be very sure to note the position of the rotor before you move the distributor, and do not allow any possibilty of someone moving the engine until you re-install the distributor in the same position - otherwise you will have to re-time the engine.
