Classic/Antique Car Repair: mopar flathead 6 stuck, broom handle, nestling

Question
Hello,I have a 47 Chrysler with a 250.6 L head 6. It was rebuilt some time in the 1960's and evidence suggests that it hasn't run since about 1968. Anyway,The motor is stuck so I pulled the head and the pan with the intention of doing a ring job if everything else looks good. After soaking the bores with a variety of penetrants and removing the ridges on the cylinder tops,I attempted to pound out the #1 piston which is at the bottom of the stroke with no luck.I even tried to use the vehicles weight to do it by nestling a broom handle against the ceiling of the stuck piston and jacking it with a floor jack.It moved about a millimeter.I'm trying not to have to pull the motor if I can help it. Can you think of anything I might try before I do that? Thanks, John

Answer
I just finished an engine rebuild on a 1953 CJ that was stuck like this. It has been my experience that when they are stuck this bad that the cylinder or cylinders that have been stuck will need to be bored out. So removing the engine is the inevitable. Good Luck.
