Classic/Antique Car Repair: Porsche 944 electrical problem, fuse panel, porsche 944

Question
Do you have experience with Porsche 944 electrical problems? I've got a head scratcher.  My 1984 944 doesn't have running lights when the key is "on" or the car is running. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the running and dash lights come on when you put the light switch in the "on" position and engage the turn signal (left or right).  When the key is turned to "on", the lights go out and the turn signals operate normally, but no running lights. The fuse panel has a female connector that shows heat damage in the "A" position on the #1 relay The markings on the relay are 30,86,85,87, A and B. I replaced the relay. No go. Can you help me?

Answer
i have no exp with your Porsche, but everytime i have chased similar elect problems in has 90% of the time been a bad ground. The reason they work when they do is they are grounding with the key off.

You will find a socket, relay, on connection to ground that is broken or bad.
