Classic/Antique Car Repair: Hudson restoration, google search, paint issues

Question
I am currently resorting a 1931 Hudson coupe and the rust is every where. I would like to find a way or method other than sand blasting to take care of this with minimal damage to the medal. I also found black oxidized medal under the surface rust, is that safe to leave or does it inhibit the strength of the medal in any way?

Answer
You really need to talk to a body/paint man - I am here to answer questions about mechanical problems.

What I can tell you is that I have heard many folks use a product called POR-15 to treat existing rusty areas, and that they are very happy with the results - it apparently stops rust and lasts for many years, and it can be painted over.  If you do a Google search for POR-15, I'm sure you will come up with people who sell it.

What you have is a very desirable car - it is well worth any effort you put into it to save it - I hope you will do it right!  Sorry I'm the wrong guy to answer this question - you must have missed my info on this site, where I say that I cannot help with body/paint issues.

Good luck to you!
