Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 alternator problems, ford galaxie 500, 1967 ford galaxie

Question
I have a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 4door with AC and power steering and I had an alternator and it wasn't charging and soon is messed up and I bought a new one and replace the old one but it still isn't charging  someone said that the Voltage regulator might need to be polarized but I'm not sure how to do it they also said it could be the condenser or I might have the alternator wired in wrong I'm not sure what the problem is but the Voltage regulator is not made in side the alternator it is bolted to the car frame
It has a light in the dash for the alternator and lets you  know when it is charging but it is supposed to be off when it works right but when you race the engine up it gets dimmer
what can I do to make the alternator charge

Answer
Never polarize an alternator system, you will fry the diodes in the alternator and could end up with an under hood fire. The back of the alternator has at least three wires. The alternator has an insulator around each terminal except the ground. The big feed wire goes to the red terminal and that wire color will be red. Now each wire to the alternator will have a color and match the colors to the terminals. If you are sure that the alternator is good, that means a good rebuild and not one from a bone yard, then your problem is probably the voltage regulator. Good luck.
