Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1946 Ford doors, chilton manuals, ford coupe

Question
Brad, I recently purchased a 1946 Ford coupe street rod. It is great except the doors were rehung improperly after the car was disassembled for painting. If I recall, the old Motors abd Chilton manuals from the 40's showed how to do these things. Can you reccomend any manual that I can purchase or find out how to hang these doors properly? Any help would be appreciated'
Thank you
Tom

Answer
I have never found a manual that really helped adjust doors. I had the same problem on my 1941 Ford coupe after a frame off tear down. It took several hours of hit or miss adjustments to the hinges to get then close. And it is possible that whoever did the frame off, if it was a frame off, did not get the body back on the frame as it was meant to be.
