Classic/Antique Car Repair: 65 IMPERIAL, daimler chrysler, brake caliper

Question
QUESTION: good morning do you know the part # for my gas sending unit pick up sock? i'm desperate!

ANSWER: Yes.

It is 1670 694.  It may still be in stock at your friendly local Imperial dealer (now known as Daimler-Chrysler).  They used the same part since the earth was flat, right up into the 80s at least.

QUESTION: dick i'm in the process of aquiring a 69 sport fury rag top
with a 383.Do you know if the car has front disks?

Answer
Now that's one I can't answer, without looking at the car.  Both disk and drum front brakes were available on Furys from 1966 on, so it might have disks, or it might not. Sport Fury Convertibles are lumped in with all the other 69 Furys, so I can't tell if they had anything special as to brakes. There were 3 different wheel sizes for those cars - so perhaps the higher performance ones had beefier wheels and disk brakes, or maybe that was just an option.

Take a look behind the front wheel (turn it away from you to see easier) and you will see either an old fashioned backing plate or a disk brake caliper hanging there, and the edge of the disc.

I had a 69 Newport Convertible with 383 up until a few years ago, and it had drum brakes - it is almost the same car mechanically as the one you are getting (good car, by the way, but not a powerhouse).
