Classic/Antique Car Repair: 350 SBC, auto repair manual, motors auto repair manual

Question
I have a 350 sbc that was purchased in a lot with a street rod project.  I have sold the other items and have a freshly rebuilt motor.  I was told that it was a 1974 390 hp vette motor, but I do not believe it.  The numbers on the back by the bell housing are : 3970010 k 9.   The numbers on the plate in front of the head are : 141601994  K08 27 CMR.  Any help at all would be appreciated greatly.   Thanks,   J.

Jeremy, I have the books back in my office that will decode this, the problem is that I am 2,000 miles from my office. However if you have or know someone that has a Motors Auto Repair manual  that covers say up to 1976, it will contain a list of the tag numbers and what engine they are. The number on the plate that begins with K is the one to look up.
