Classic/Antique Car Repair: stoplights not working, stoplight switch, fuses

Question
My directional and turnsignals lights are working but my stop/brake lights are not working. This is what I have done so far: checked fuses, checked bulbs, and replaced the stoplight switch in the rear of the brake pedal. what next?

Answer
Generally, this is one of two situations.

It can be a grounding problem usually at the bulb itself, but sometimes all the way back to the switch.

Also, make sure your switch is actually operating. Possibly jumper the wires and see if your brake lights come on. If they do, your are not activating your switch.
