Classic/Antique Car Repair: 67 mustang, fuel injection system, wrecking yard

Question
Hey bud,
Ive got a 67 mustang 6 banger and I really want to drop an 8 into it a 305 to 351 range would be perfect. I was thinking a brand new fuel injection system instead of carbs would be great. But I have no idea even where to start.Everything works on the car, but I also just dont know what I would need along with the engine, like a new new transmission or anything like that. Manual transmision would be perfect.Actually when I think about it I dont even know what kind of a donor engine I would need.
If you could offer any advice I would be way in your debt.
Thankyou for your time.

Answer
Not really my area of interest, but I can give you a few pointers. You would be miles ahead (not to mention many, many dollars) to find a running car that has the features you are looking for. Maybe something from a wrecking yard that has the body trashed. Buy the whole car and have it there while you convert.

The major cost of one of these projects is all the little things you didn't think about up front. Just one bracket or the special bolts for something can add $50 real quick and in can happen two or three times a day.

You best beginning point is to find a manual shift fuel injected car and start from there.
