Classic/Antique Car Repair: 68 gto, fuel pressure gauge, wd 40

Question
about 2 years and 2000 miles ago we rebuilt the 400 engine in the car after the initial installation it ran fine. when it was pulled out of storage it was running very bad we changed the cap wires points plugs coil and carb.(edelbrock 750) new mechanical fuel pump and fuel pressure gauge(reads good)without trying to bore you we checked the timing its good and steady advancing like it should. the dwell is good and the plugs look ok. now the problem is when its driven it has a bad miss at higher rpm. sputtering like its starving for gas. and finally we checked the fuel line to the tank and its clear with new filter. if you could please offer some suggestions we will forever be in your debt. thanks doug

Answer
Doug;
Hea- well if it been sitting for 2 yrs. I would throw in 2 cans of dry gas and add some hi-test to it than add a can of octane booster. now get some carb cleaner- spray it inside and outside-real good & choke too, than spray the linkage with wd-40 .did you change the rotor. I would add that to the fuel and run it out a.s.a.p. than get some hi -test with some octane additive and 1 can of dry gas. also a can of s.t.p.to the oil. that should run it out clean.  did you chewck the points for any pile or , sand them and re set or dwell them to 30..
