Classic/Antique Car Repair: water pump, rad cap, head turner

Question
Hi Roger how have you been?
Still working on my 64 Pontiac 230 6 cyl.(Chev. engine).
I have got the carb issue resolved and the electrical/battery alternator issues figured out.
One problem remains is that it  overheats badly.
There is good air flow through the rad- I flushed it out and replaced the hoses and coolant.
When the rad cap is off,I dont see the coolant moving,it just sits there, with the odd bubble.
Does this sound like the water pump is shot?
Where exactly, can I find that puppy so I can change it?
I did find a shroud that fits but am holding off on that in case I have to pull the rad.
If a new water pump fixes the problem should I put it on anyway? Thanks so much.
P.S.
I have no problem finding new or salvaged parts up here.
Can hardly wait to get this thing working good as it is a real head turner ;-)

HI well- the pump in in back of the fan, where all of the hoses go, I would check the rad. cap to see if it is good, no leaks, do a pressure test for leaks. are any hoses getting sucked closed when running and is your thermostat any good, remove it and try it with it out.
