Classic/Antique Car Repair: Headlight wiring - headlights wont work., work question, start from scratch

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1969 Fairlane Cobra, bought it new. Still original. It's show quality and I keep it in the garage, covered, and battery disconnected unless I'm going to start/drive to a cruise or show. Last time I had it out & it got dark the headlights would not come on. Everything else, parking lights, dash lights etc. work fine, just no headlights. I've replaced the headlight switch & dimmer switch, headlights still don't work. Power at dimmer switch, no power at headlight plug. Ground terminal on plug has continuity. Wiring harness still looks like new. Does it disconnect at firewall or go thru to under dash plug? No lights and car show in two weeks, help!

ANSWER: Rick;
HI-well if the lamps are both good I would check them with a volt meter to see if you have juice going to the lamps, use a test lamp. also check the head lamp fuse  ok...

QUESTION: Lamps are good, have checked them. No fuse, its a breaker built into the headlight switch. What could happen to the wiring between the dimmer switch and the headlight plug to interrupt the power flow? It appears new, clean, tight and no corrosion anywhere.

Answer
There is a rheostat or coil in the light switch that could have burned out.
Rick- I would try to run a  hot wire to each lamp separate,to see if they work, than if they do work you know the lamps are good, how are the grounds, good and clean. I would pull the s/w on and with the key on check  the switch with a test lamp if you have a hot wire from the battery run it to the hot wire on the light switch. if you have the juice going in but no juice going out-than there is a wire broke or the switch is bad, or the ground could be bad. start from scratch - go from the battery to the lamps than to the switch than with a test lamp see if you have juice coming out. is there a separate relay ?
