QuestionQUESTION: I have a 42 chevy pickup I am replacing the motor out with another 235 motor it has a 4 speed trans I am going to put in a 3 speed , I think it i a Saganaw ??? the numbers on the side are GM 8 38451 22 047 ??
any suggestions ?

I just went and compaired the trans , mine has 4 bolts on the sde plate ? and the 2 shifter linkage ?

AnswerClay, I tried to punch in them numbers you gave me to no avail, are there any more? one guy on here who is still on vacation, after reading his profile it looks to me like he might be better suited to answer this Q
you say your not sure what year this 3 speed is from? or are you wondering if the 3 speed is better suited then the 4? which in any case I'd always say 4 gears are better then 3
