Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1956 PACKARD CLIPPER SUPER, dot 5 brake fluid, windshield wipers

I HAVE BEEN RESTORING THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND I NEED TO FIND OUT WHERE TO GET THE VACCUMN DIAGRAM IT HAS A 352 2 BBL AUTO.  ALL THE HOSE WER OFF WE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND I CAN;T GET THE LINES CORRECT SO THAT MY BRAKES FUNCTION I AHVE HAD THE TREAD VAC UNIT REBUILT AND I REPALCED ALL THE  WHEEL CYL AND SILICONE DOT 5 BRAKE FLUID PUT IN.  AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS STILL HARD TO PUSH SO I THINK IT MUST BE IN THE VACCUMN.

Answer
Check to see if there is vacuum in the line from the back of the carburetor check valve to the booster.  If not, find out why.  The check valve is the large brass device threaded into the backside of the carburetor - it should have a large hose going to the brake booster.

The other vacuum lines have nothing to do with the brakes  - they only go to the windshield wipers and the windshield washer.  Even if they were plugged off, you should still have power brakes.

You can find anything you want to know about this car in the shop manual. If you don't have one, you are going to go crazy trying to fix anything on it.
