Classic/Antique Car Repair: generator light stays on, light glows, generator light

Hi, the generator light glows dimly after I have turned the car off and removed the key. It's a 1966 Impala with a 283. Any ideas??? Thanks

Mike;Hi it might be a short that you have, I would get a volt meter and check the out put of the alt/gen. and check the volts going to the battery when running. there is a short some place, than get a test lamp and check the wires that go to the lamp and to the volt. reg. and alt. ok
