Classic/Antique Car Repair: FREE WHEELING CABLE, andy bernbaum, chrysler imperial

Question
I have a 1933 Chrysler Imperial CQ and the Cable that operates FREE WHEELING was cut. Do you know where I could go to get another one? It is about 71" long, It had a cable sleeve with a spring wrapped around it (I suppose for rock guard) and a heavy .105 dia wire that moves inside the sleeve.

Thanks

Answer
I don't know of any source for this, but I can suggest that you ask Andy Bernbaum for ideas. You probably are well acquainted with him but if not, contact him at:

If he can't offer any help, I think your time would be best spent reproducing it.   The part is basically pretty simple - you could get raw materials from a bike or motorcycle shop or by shopping for a choke cable from one of the auto supply houses, and perhaps make a usable substitute.

It's none of my business, but other than the novelty, I wouldn't advise you to operate the car in free wheeling - they went out of style for a reason!
