Classic/Antique Car Repair: Draining Oil From 1968 Ford Mustang 298, auto parts store, ford mustang

Question
Not having done an oil drain on a Ford before, and not having the car jacked up, but working from the ground up, I do not know where to air for the valve to drain the oil.  Please help.

Answer
I'm not certain I understand your question.  There is nothing involving "air" in draining oil.   The car must be elevated far enough to get access to the drain plug, which is very obvious on the bottom of the oil pan at the bottom of the engine.  You should also change the oil filter at the same time, and this requires an oil filter wrench.  Your auto parts store can get you the right size oil filter wrench - there are different sizes - depending on which filter your car uses.

To elevate the car, the professional would put it up on a lift, but if you do not have access to a lift, you can do it by jacking up the front end with a floor jack, and then putting safety stands under it so that you will be safe under there even if the jack collapses (which CAN happen!)

Another method is to buy a pair of "drive-on" ramps that will elevate the front of the car.  These are a bit tricky to use,, and probably not quite as safe as safety stands, but if you buy good ones (your auto parts store again), you will be pretty safe.

Once the car is elevated, you can unscrew the drain plug and catch the old oil in a dishpan or some other large container - it will splash and splatter a bit, so be prepared for a mess.  When you unscrew the oil filter, that will also leak and make a mess, although that will be a bit easier to deal with.

If I have mis-understood your question, perhaps you can rephrase it and I'll try again.
