Answer
I don't have a shop manual for your car, and you should get one if you are going to be maintaining this car.   Detailed instructions for removing the radio, and anything else you will ever need to know about servicing the car are in the shop manual.  You can find them on eBay, or you can buy one from one of the auto literature dealers.  I use Ed Faxon at www.faxonautolit.com, but there are many others.

My guess (and it is only that, as I have not had the pleasure of removing the radio from a 55-57 Chevy) is that the way to remove the radio is to just pull the knobs off it, undo the nuts that are hidden behind the knobs, then look under and behind the radio for the rear brace and the wire connections, loosen or remove all those, and then the radio should come out by moving it back out of the dash, then push the front of the radio up a small amount so that the back of it will drop out from under the dash.

Removing a glove box usually destroys the glovebox, as they are brittle with age, so avoid doing that if it is at all possible.

Good Luck!
