Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1968 Camaro Brake Wiring, 1968 camaro, light sockets

Question
I have a 1968 camaro that someone else installed a painless
wiring system.  The brake lights only work when the turn signals
are blinking.  If a turn signal is not blinking, the brake lights
don't work at all, but if the turn signal is blinking, then the
opposite brake light illuminates.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Tony;
boy who was that $#^&%$, I would get a test lamp and first get the brake lights fixed, have someone step on the brakes and test the light sockets if no juice than you will have to re wire them i think that the master meck. that did the wireing screwed up in the signal switch area. there are wires that should be going to other places as when you step on the brakes with the turn signals on - boy what a mess. if you run into real trouble you can get a signal repair kit fron jc whitney .com that should be easy, but I think that there should be no need for it just trace the wires with a test lamp to each lamp,etc. ok
