Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1978 chevy small block wont start, chevy small block, wd 40

Question
My 78 Z28 has been sitting in my drive-way fro about 3-4 years.  I stopped driving it because it was to loud for my daughter.  So now I want to start it up after all this time.  I got a new battery, cleaned up the battery connections.  The engine will crank, but it won't start up.  I also sometimes have to wait a while becasue all I hear is a clicking but no crank.  Most of the time it does crank.  Oh...I also have a push button ignition.

Answer

Eddie ;
 HI  well the first thing I would do is to remove each the sparks and put a shot of wd-40 into each cyld.  than put the plugs back in . than remove the air filter and spray some starting fluid into the carb. and try to start it , you might have to pump the hell out of the gas till you can smell it. soon start. and add a can or 2 of dry gas to the fuel first. ok you might have to get a jump while doimg it.
check oil and tranny fluid first.
