Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1952 Packard, patrician, car repair

Question
I have a 52 Packard Patrician 400. AFter a short drive, 35 miles, the car will not start again if the  engine is turned off. I have moved and insulated the gas line, had the starter rebuilt, and reppaced plug wiring. the engine is repsonsive and runs smoothly, but will not restart untill cooling for 30 minutes of so. Several mechanics who specialize in classsic car repair are all perplexed. HELP !!  The Packard in not customized nor modified.

Answer
Well, you definitely came to the right place, but I need more information:

Does the starter operate normally when you try to start it, or does it refuse to turn the engine, or only crank very slowly?

With that information, I can begin to track down the problem, but without it I may go off in the wrong direction and waste a lot of time and effort.

If it spins the engine normally but the engine refuses to start, we have to sort out whether the problem is lack of fuel or lack of spark, but let's answer the basic first question first - we'll get it back to reliable operation, I'm sure.

Dick (who happens to own a nearly identical car - a 54 Patrician).
