There were 14 different carburetors for the 52 Chevy.  You probably think I'm kidding, but that is the truth!  They were different for the cars with automatic choke and for automatic transmission.   The cars with automatic transmission had automatic choke, and the ones with standard transmission came with or without automatic choke.  There were 3 different brands of carburetor used on 52 Chevys; (Stromberg, Carter and Rochester), for a total of 14 different ones.

Tell me about your car (transmission, and brand of carburetor) and I can tell you more about them.

I can tell you that if your car came with a manual choke, you are stuck with it, unless you want to change the whole carburetor to one of the ones with automatic choke.  

If you have an automatic choke and want a manual, you can buy an aftermarket kit from any auto parts store to convert an automatic choke carburetor to a manual - but that is sort of a kludge and won't look authentic.
