Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 Impala dies when the key is released., ballast resistor, old chevy

Question
I have a beautifully restored '64 Impala. It always started easily and ran good until a couple of weeks ago.  It will start right up, but as soon as the key is released from the "start" position, it instantly dies.  The problem sure seems a lot like one I had with an older Dodge once, and that was caused by a blown ballast resistor.  Does my old Chevy have something like that?  I've looked everywhere and can't find one.  I also changed out the ignition switch and checked the wiring.  Any ideas you have for me would be greatly appreciated.  Thanx!

Answer
