I have a 1992 Geo Tracker with 110000 miles. It does have a 1.6 L Multi port fuel injection system. Was told by a mechanic that fuel pump is bad. Wants to turn over when I start it but doesn't. Replaced fuel pump and fuel filter, but problem still persists. Fuel Pump is working. but fuel injection seems dry. Any ideas?
Answer -
Hi Scott,
A fuel pressure test would be a good idea. It will tell if the pump is working, and if the filter is plugged.
A fuse, specifically inj fuse, could be blown.

Hi Scott,
Don't condemn that computer yet.
Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the injectors?
They should get close to battery power on one side, and the computer grounds the other side as needed.
There is a crankshaft position sensor that tells the computer when to open the injectors, so check that also.
But make sure there is power to the injectors.

Answer
Hello Scott,I assume you had the ohm meter on the volts scale, because the injectors should get near battery voltage on one side when the key is turned to run.
If they are not, then check the fuses. Use the meter, or a test light, and see if the fuse holder clips are both showing power.
You must get voltage to them or the ecm can't do anything.
The problem could also be the ignition switch.
