Classic/Antique Car Repair: Wiring, ballast resistor, chevrolet camaro

Question
I have a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro with a 350, 4-speed.  The car is equipped with stock ignition and wiring.  I want to convert to a single line alternator (internal regulator) and simplify the wiring.  Currently the alternator has 3 wires – “hot” and 2 which are attached I believe to the regulator.  What is required to do this conversion?  Also this car has a pre-determined length of wiring which is connected to the coil instead of a ballast resistor.  Can anything be done about this.  Thanks for your time.

HI  - I would think that the 68 has the alt. with the relay set up. as far as the wires I never changed one to the newer alt. Have you looked on line or do a serch for it. If you go to jc whitney.com I think that they have a kit for what you wish to do. ok
as far as the resistor, it is differnt due to the elect. ing. set up. look into the kit to convert it over to the newer elect. system.
