Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1961 Impala Powerglide leak, shift linkage, 61 impala

Question
Hi, I have a 61 Impala 283 with a cast 2 speed powerglide. 2 problems, may or may not be related. I have a serious transmission leak. When I drive the car especially highway speeds for a long time I leave a trail (seriously a trail) of transmission fluid as I slow down. Seems to be coming from between the transmission and engine mating, but no matter how hard I look can't see the origin. Other times no leak at all. I've driven a 2000 mile trip, no used fluid. Next time 1 qt every 200 miles. One whole summer no leak, this year it's back. Also it is hard to get into park. I usually turn off the ignition to put into park. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi - it might be the front seal that is leaking , or the converter  is . Have you tried to add a can of tranny stop leak , it might help . if the seal is bad it must be replaced but the stop leak might slow it down a bit .and as far as putting it into park ,that might just be a adjustment  needed in the shift linkage.  ok >>>>
