Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1963 Fairlane radio..., antique radio repair, 1963 ford fairlane

Question
Hi, my name is Philip, and I live in Nashville, TN.  I am restoring a 1963 Ford Fairlane Sport Coupe and my radio lense that covers the dial is yellowed and cracked.  I had bought the radio used and I was told that it works but I haven't tried it yet b/c the car is not running yet.  I would think it just needs a "tune-up" to work well, but I don't know what that entails.  Mainly, I would just like to get my radio to where it looks as cosmetically new as possible.  Can you help me?  I would greatly appreciate it!

Answer
Philip,
You may be able to locate a new replacement plastic indicator at some antique radio repair sites. If the knobs and front nose piece has pits and corrosion on them, the pieces can be rechromed. My shop repairs and restores old car stereos, if you would like more details please Email me direct.
