Classic/Antique Car Repair: Vibrasion, wheel lugs, roadster pickup

Question
--It feels like it is in the drive train some where. I'll see if it could be the universal joint. I know that it is not one of the others that you sugjested.
Thank you for your help.

Question -
I have a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster pickup. I have had it since last September. Every thing is fine at about 30-35 mph, when I am going about 40-45 mph and take my foot off the gas the truck rattles and shakes something aufull. Other then that it runs very well.
Thanks for any advise you can give me as to what the problem might be.

Without more information, I can only guess which of many possiblities is the cause of your problem.

If you feel this vibration in the steering wheel, you have what is known as "Shimmy" due to badly worn parts in your front kingpins and other front suspension parts.

If you feel this vibration in the floor area, you probably have a worn out or broken universal joint in the driveshaft.

If the vibration seems to be the whole car shaking, but is not limited to the steering wheel, you probalby have a loose wheel at the rear of the car. Model A's are famous for this - check your lug nuts.

If you have more information for me to consider, please post a follow up question and I'll try again.

Answer
This is odd, my answers are not going through again.   I responded to you yesterday, but I see it is still outstanding.

Anyway, there aren't too many things that change when you let off the gas - the driveline is the first thing that comes to mind, but the motor mounts could also be loose or broken. The engine will move when you let off the gas if the mounts are bad.  Also, the wheel lugs can be loose enough that the wheel will shift off center when you let off the gas.

I hope this goes through this time!
