Classic/Antique Car Repair: El Camino question..., decent shape, roap

Question
Mr. Warrington:
I've got a 1979 El Camino...pretty decent shape for older truck.  But I had an accident the other day, and the front left part of the bumper (just as it curves to go around the edge) was pushed back slightly.  It looks like (underneath) that there are a couple of piston-looking things that are supporting the bumper, and I wondered if the one on that side was just pushed in a bit.
Anyhow...was hoping I could just run a rope around the bumper and hook up a come-along (ratchet pulley) to a nearby tree and straighten it back out.  I know it won't be spot on perfect, but would be satisfied just to get it close.
Does this sound like it would work, or is it a bumper much more complicated than that?  It's only pushed back maybe an inch and a half compared to the other side, and there's no crack or sharp bend in the chrome.
Any suggestions, advice greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
David Gardner

Answer
Dave;
 I would be real carefull if you did it with a roap , the lil piston thing is a small shock abs.and you do not want it to pop. can you get a small hyd. jack (they sell for 10.00-15.00 in K-mart - than you can use the small jack to get in back of the bumper to push it back out . sound good .
