Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1970 Buick GS 350 engine code/VIN location, matching numbers, push rods

Question
Hi, my question is basically where on the engine block do you find the engine code (SB or SP), and the VIN number stamped?  I'm trying to determine if this car I'm looking at is matching numbers or not.  Thanks, Rory

The no#s should be on the r/f of the engine to the 3:00
area by the water pump, and the vin is on the  driver side bottom of window and on the vech.reg. and insh. id card.
the  GS 1 motor has the same markings ( casting ) on the outside / the the gs 1 is on the inside , such as the valves and springs, push rods,a bit more compression/ .4 more than the reg. 455. a h.d. oil pump , hotter cam , and ing. and carb. were also worked a bit.the casting no#s for a 1970 hard top should be 44637 and a conv. 44667 . you can try musclecars.com and get some more data on it.
