Classic/Antique Car Repair: distributors, hea, rotor

Can I take a 57 distributor that has HEI installed already and put it in my 55?

      I would say yes as the cam is std. size gear and same as intake go and the wires in the car are all same set up so be shure to use the coil  or a H.D. coil with it so it will put out HI Voltage ok. Be care full when you put it in as you must set it on no# 1 or place it in the same way you take out the old one mark where the rotor is / on what plug .etc. and if you have trouble you will have to pop the no # 1 cyld. and put it in that way ok Good Luck
