Classic/Antique Car Repair: Battery charging, oil seal, battery tender

Question
I have a '66 Impala 327 w/some performance upgrades. I recently pulled the engine(replaced the rear oil seal) and now that its back in I have charging problems. The car runs fine if I put a battery tender on it or jump it, but when I turn it off (after running it for a while to charge) it won't fire back up. It has a new battery and generator so thats not it. I think its a ground problem. any Ideas would be greatly appriciated

Answer
hi
Jon; Did you put a vot. meter to see what you are getting ? as it could still be the gen, you should first see how many volts it is putting out. does it go dead, or just klick ? how is the belt. The first thing to do is see what it is putting out. ok
