Classic/Antique Car Repair: Motor swap, j c whitney, 57 chevy

Question
Hi Roger,
A friend of mine recommended this site to me. I have a 56 Olds Holiday 88 that has been repowered to a 64 392 w/a slim jim transmission(?)The car sat for a very long time in a barn, and the motor does turn over, but I have been thinking about removing, but keeping, the 392 and replace it with a 350/350 combo, The car will be used mainly for cruising the highways to car shows in the summer.
What problems do you for see in this idea? I have yet to find any motor/trans. mounts for this coversion. Is there that big of difference between the 55-57 Chevy & Olds mounts? Thank you, Kurt

Answer
Kurt; Hi, I'm glad that people still do stuff like that,
I think that doing that would be great , but you might run into some tough stuff, but it should not be that bad, with some welding and cutting ? I think you should find a kit for the engine mounts as I don't think that it will be close to the chevy mounts, you might have a bit of trouble there. but you can try J.C.Whitney.com and see if they sell a mount kit for that switch.and as far as the tranny it has to be a bit smaller than the old type, and you can have a driveshaft made if need be, the front part chevy and the back  Olds as the shaft can be cut in half and welded at a GOOD welding shop (only), again the mounts are diff. but you should be able to find a kit. good luck
let me know how things go.
Roger
