Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1967 Camaro AC/heater core fan assembly, 67 camaro rs, chevy ss

Question
I have a 67 camaro rs with a big block and headers.I want to remove and replace my ac/heater core assembly with a heater core only. The ac/heater core assembly takes up too much space. It is not an original car. Do I have to remove the fender well and out fender to do this properly. Thanks, John

Answer
HI;
John as far as I know the heater core should come out w/o taking off the fender/well--   . as some people do cut a hole to get at some screws but the hardest I have ever done was a 64 chevy ss conv. and it was hard but i did get it out with out any cutting or fender well or any removal of body parts or cutting. did you look at the clintons car book or a chevy tech book that will tell you step by step what you will have to do , don't go out and buy one of these books as they are a lot of money but  do go to your local library and check out the auto repair section and the books there will tell you what you will have to do and what not to do as I would tell you now but i do not have the tm books with me here ,  also the heater core should come out from under the dash board as you might have to remove the glove comp. as most do come out from the in side of the car as the shell is on the outside of the firewall.so check out your library as the people there will be glad to help you. ok. as you do not want to be doing stuff that is not needed to do.
