Classic/Antique Car Repair: Body parts, vintage chevrolet club, vcca

Question
Hi Dick,
I am looking for a set of fenders and running boards for a 1930 Chevy truck.  Do you know of any company or a place that would sell them?
Need not be NOS but must be in good condition.
Thanks

Answer
Wow!  You've got a tough problem there. The truck is very rare, and there aren't enough of them being restored to make it worth while for any of the parts reproduction outfits to tool up to make parts for it.

That means you are going to have to find someone with a parts truck that they are willing to sell parts off.   I think there are really only two possibilities - the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America or the American Truck Historical Society.

The VCCA can be contacted at http://www.vcca.com
The ATHS can be contacted at http://aths.org

In both cases, join the local chapter, attend a few events, and ask the other members.  You'll find they are very interested and helpful, and someone will have a lead on a parts truck, I'm betting.  This will take some time, but you'll meet some nice folks, and get some very valuable help if you stick with it.

Good Luck!

Dick
