GMC Repair: load noise when accelerating with a/c on, serpentine belt tensioner, compressor belt

Question
I have a 2003 yukon. I get a very load noise and vibration  from my compressor belt tensioner when I accelerate with my a/c on. Runs great with a/c off.  How can I make sure its my compressor and not anything else.
Also do I have to install a filter drier if and when I replace the compressor. do you recomend or not buying a non dealer part?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi
This condition may be caused by liquid slugging of the A/C compressor. This condition may cause an internal failure in the A/C compressor. The serpentine belt tensioner and serpentine belt may also be damaged.
My best advice is replacement of compressor with Delco part, AND replace the Oriface tube AND the Accumulator/drier.
Thats what I do when I preform this job.
I usually do not have problem with aftermarket parts.
I have not changed one of these compressors with aftermarket yet.
I would say it will be a money issue and or your decision.
I would say 90% sure it is compressor.
Hope this helps.
