Answer
terry i thought i did this for you- so i guess you did not get it ok here we go-
ready- now you sea that you pop out of gear do you get it in gear and than it pops out or does it just pop out at all times ? well if it is popping out it is 1) the shifter linkage adj. or I think that is the tranny side plate as there are two arms on it that hold the shifter and gears in gear on the sincros with two u like things that slide back and forth and if you broke off one of the tails / ends it will do as you say. no it is easy to fix this , jack up your car so you can work under it. disconeccet the shifter from the side plate mounts, now remove all bolts and pry the side plate off slowly as oil might come out so be ready for it now take the side plate and you will have two metal pcs. that cris cross each other with a indent on each end if a end is missing you got a broken shift arm as these hold you into gear and the u shaped things ride on the sincros so you can shift ok so it is most likly that and at a chevy dealer i think thay should be in stock ok good luck, need more help ask me ok
good luck
