I checked with a meter and the battery is reading 14.13 at an idle.

See my earlier reply!  Good luck with the MG Midget. I had one for many years and enjoyed it greatly.  Keep your oil and filter clean. It's probably the best thing you can do for your engine. Also, change your coolant and flush the cooling system every two years.  I don't know if you live where corrosion is much of a problem, but if you do,(or even if you don't)  and you run the car much, spray the entire underside of the car every year with a garden sprayer filled with a 50/50 mixture of regular kerosene and motor oil then let it sit for a couple of hours- but do this over a dirt or gravel lot not on the new concrete or asphalt driveway!
