Pontiac Repair: Car wont start, battery cables, negative cable

Question
Have a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am.  Car was completely dead.  Tried to jump start for about 15 minutes, best I could get was an occasional turnover and then clicks.  Battery is about three to four years old.

Answer
Hi Chris:

Well you either have a completly dead/shorted battery or a bad connection possably at the battery. The side post batteries are prone to leak acit out where the battery cables attach to the posts on the side of that battery. the acid causes corrosion to form and then youy get a bad connection. You may want to try to jump the car at the positive battery terminal in the under hood fusse box and place the negative cable on something metal on the engine and see it it will tak a jump start then. Good luck :)
