Classic/Antique Car Repair: Cannot start my 60 comet, neutral safety switch, voltage reg

Question
I live in the mountains in Guffey Colo. and as I was driving down my d/w the car stalled and has yet to start again. I have replaced the starter, the starter relay, the regulater and sometimes I click @ the relay and sometimes I get nothing. I have a Motor Manual, my tec manual and a couple of other books and have done most of the tests and after dropping the starter on my head and 5 operations for getting run over( I am, or was a surveyor)I think I must be overlooking the problem and my wife found this site, so please if u have any ideas please help. I have a 60 comet w/a 68 302 and a 70 trans(auto). I disconected the neutral safety switch a long time ago so that shouldnt be a problem. The morning it died was about 20 min after first start in the morning( about 25 degrees at 10,000') and it just died like it was still cold. I live on major bumpy dirt roads for about 30 miles so I checked the connections and all seem ok. The only thing I havent changed is the voltage reg. but I get good spark. I am thinking I have the two small wires going to the relay wrong, I am lost, thanx

Answer
David,
If the engine will crank over and it has a good spark, The problem may be a fuel supply problem. The manual will show you the correct position for the wires to the voltage reg unit. Have you tried looking down the carb and manually moving the carb linkage to see if the accelerator pump in the carb is squirting fuel down the carb when you move the linkage with your hand? Another cause/problem may be that the carb needs to be adjusted slightly for the altitude that you are in. Don't forget to check/replace the fuel filter. also check the fuel pump to see if it is pumping fuel with good pressure.
