Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1967 XKE Series 1 Roadster-trunk..., bolt and nut, thick gloves

Question
1967 XKE Series 1 Roadster-trunk lid springs are broken.  Lid does not stay open.  I have a new set of springs but can't figure out the installation.  Any advise would be appreciated.

Answer
These are very awkward to fit...!

Remove hinge/s from body and bootlid.

You will need a good vice to hold the hinge firmly. I cannot think of an easy way to explain replacement.

Suggest you look at the easiest way to remove old springs, remove tension from them before undoing small bolt and nut. Carefully note exactly how they fit...!

Trick is to locate all the small holes with bolt before fully fixing. From memory, I think there are three springs per hinge?

Sorry I cannot be more helpful... they can be awkard so and so's...

WARNING ~~ be very careful as they are very sharp on the edges, wear thick gloves and use a lever where possible.
