Dodge Repair: under hood light

i got a 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.2 liter. i got a problem with the light underneath the hood. when i plug it in it stays on all of the time. is there a censor for that. thank you

Hi Chris,
My closest manual is for the '01 model year and in that the under hood light is shown to have a switch that is built-in to the socket for the light and presumably that is activated/deactivated by some sort of mechanical push button related to the hood closing on it. So look over the socket to see if there is a push-button on the light module.
