Dodge Repair: 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4

Question
recently inherited a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 318. the truck has been sitting for four years out of gas. Oil was fine just made an attempt to start the motor. put in 5 gallons of fresh gas, put in a new battery, pulled the air cleaner and used a little starting fluid for an easier start. THe motor fired right up and sounded solid until the starting fluid wore off. The motor would not keep running and I think it is not getting gas. When I turn on the key I hear no noise in the gas tank like i do with the fuel pump on by 98 chevy silverado. I may have heard a couple faint clicks. Would the gas tank being empty all that time have dried out the fuel pump. Could the fuel lines be plugged? should I pull the gas tank to check all this or is there an alternative way to trouble shoot this issue. How do you remove the fitting on the fuel line, just pull them apart? WOuld like your professional suggestions on how to resolve this issue and get this  truck up and running. Truck has 93.000 miles.

Answer
there is a black cap on teh fuel rail  remove it  there is a shredder valve  u can press on it like u would a tire to replace air   this will spurt out fuel   u can try and start the truck  and press on that lil valve see if any gas comes out  if not  prob bad pump assembly.
