Dodge Repair: air conditioning/blower motor resistor: 99 minivan, blower motor resistor, haynes manual

Question
I have two questions on my 1999 Grand Voyager van. 1- The exact location of the speedcontol resistor for the front fan. I've been told it is one the firewall, passenger side. I have a Haynes manual which is of little help. 2- Where do I charge the rear air conditioner?
Thank you for your help!

Answer
Hi Michael,
The resistor block is indeed in the firewall on the right side of the van, accessible through the engine compartment. It is next to the strut tower, just below the four-sided (one side diagonal) opening in the firewall. You can remove the plug on the engine side of the block, then reach through the adjacent rectangular opening and with a flat blade screwdriver tip you will push on spring clips on each side of the block to release the block and pull it forward into the engine compartment. There are some dotted lined shown on the compartment side that indicate the location of the spring clips and thus where to place the tip of the screwdriver before pressing inward.
As to the rear AC unit, it is on the same circuit as the front unit so that if there is an acceptable level of refrigerant charge to the front there will similarly be charge to the rear unless the line is crimped or the evaporator valve is clogged, or the mode/temp door for the rear is not shifting air over the rear evaporation coil as it should.
