Dodge Repair: 98 intrepid wont start when warm, crank pulley, camshaft sensor

Question
Hi Roland
this is lupe again couldn't get a reply on the answer but is a 1998 intrepid ES 3.2 liter

Answer
Hi Lupe,
When you installed the new camshaft sensor did it have the paper spacer sticking to the tip of it, which it should have had? If not, then remove it and get a paper spacer from the dealer part dept. When you installed it you should have pressed it in until the tip of the spacer came in contact with the surface of the cam sprocket and then held it there and tighten the retainer bolt to 105 inch-pounds. If you did all that then the sensor is properly installed.
The wires at the plug are:
Pin 1 orange, 8V supply wire to pin 44 of the pcm
Pin 2 black/light blue sensor ground wire to pin 43 of the pcm
Pin 3 tan/yellow sensor signal wire to pin 33 of the pcm
You might want to verify those wires are patent, and not short circuited to one another or to chassis ground.
Other than that, if it still won't start when warmed up I would suggest that you measure the signal between pins 2 and 3 by probing through the wires with pins, then rotate the engine by hand using a socket and handle on the crank pulley (with the ignition "on") and see if the voltage oscillates between 0.3 and 5V. Do this test when you are in failure mode, and if you don't measure that pulsing voltage then the sensor had failed when warmed up.
Please 'rate' my answer (see below).
Thanks,
Roland
