Why will my vehicle not idle with the A/C on? It idles fine until the A/C is turned on, then the engine dies.

Hi Bill,
The pcm is supposed to automatically raise the idle to make up for the drag of the a/c compressor. Tell me the year/engine (L) and I will verify that as well. There may be a fault code that will point to exact;y what needs attention. Try a free readout at an Autozone or about $40 at an independent shop and let me know if they find a 4-digit code number. In the meantime tell me the year and I'll see what the manual says.
