Dodge Repair: Ignition cylinder troubles, 2006 dodge stratus, copper wires

Question
Hey!

Some idiot tried to steal my car and busted the thingy that holds the ignition lock in. They broke the plastic thing with the plastic ring with the copper wires in it, and the metal thing that holds the lock in with its button. The lock is fine, but everything that holds it in is all destroyed. I need to know what these parts are called so I can replace them. Thank you!

The car is a 2006 Dodge Stratus.

Doug

Answer
Hi Doug,
The best thing to do would be to go to a dealer's parts counter where they will have a parts catalog on digital file with drawings showing all the parts of the ignition switch, the part numbers, part names, and prices. I can guess at the names based on your description. What I can do today is copy pages from the '06 manual that describes how to change the ignition switch. If you would like I can do that now and maybe the pages I send will have drawings showing all the parts you need to identify.
I will send those pages attached to an email I will send to you directly. But I need to know your email address to do that (Allexperts doesn't routinely tell me the questioner's email address).
So ask a NEW question, and check the box to make it PRIVATE and in the text area tell me what your email address is. Also verify that this is a Status sedan and not a coupe.
I await your new question.
Please 'rate' this answer (see below).
Thanks,
Roland
